I have been wanting to move books that I get from the books app on my iPhone to 
Voice Dream for a long time. I have some free ones, but don’t really like the 
way the Samantha voice reads. I also wish that there is a way to find some of 
the books that I find on the books app in other places, but so far, for some of 
my titles, it hasn’t been the case.

I also forgot to mention one of the best things about Libro.fm, half of the 
price goes to a local bookstore. You can pick the store. If there isn't one in 
your area on the Libro.fm list, contact a local store and see if they would 
connect with Libro.fm.
Or ask Libro.fm to contact them.
They are very responsive.

The instruction given assumed you want to add the book to the Books app on your 
iPhone, not your Mac.
Once the book file has been added to your iPhone, it may possibly show up on

Dwayne, That is why I do not buy books through Apple. I used to buy them 
through Audible, but now use a service called Libro.fm which has the same books 
as Audible, minus the Audible originals, and you can download them as MP3 files 
with no DRM, so you can listen with Voice Dream Reader, or their own app which 
is quite accessible.
The price might be a little higher than audible, because they do not have a 
yearly price, just $14.95 per month, but you can suspednd your membership any 
time and the books are yours to keep.

Re: Moving a Book From the Dropbox Folder to the Books App?

Since you have converted the book file to M4B, and assuming you are running 
Catalina or Big Sur on your Mac, you should be able to do this using the same 
procedure as adding a ringtone to a Mac running one of said macOSs.  This 
procedure most likely won’t work for MP3 files, however you can add MP3 files 
to the Voice Dream Reader app.

Use the following procedure to add the M4B file to your Mac, substituting the 
book file, for the ringtone file in the instructions:
1.  Connect your iPhone to your Mac with the USB charging cable.
2.  On your Mac, open a Finder window to the folder location where the custom 
ring-tone resides.
3.  Open a second Finder window )or tab), where you can select your iPhone from 
the Sidebar.
4.  Return to the Finder window where the custom ringtone resides.
5.  Interact with the table or browser, and using VO, navigate to the ringtone 
you wish to move to the iOS device.
6.  Once you are at the tone, press VO + CMD + f5, to route the mouse to the 
location of the VO cursor.
Note:  Depending on your keyboard preferences, you may need to include the fn 
key in order for the F-keys to perform as normal F-keys.
7.  Press VO + CMD + Shift + SpaceBar to invoke the mouse-down action.
8.  Navigate to the iPhone window.
9.  Navigate to the item that announces the name of your iPhone, how much space 
is used and its charge level.  On mine, it's the item that's one VO to 
the-right after the edit field with my iPhone name in it.
10.  Press VO + CMD + Shift + f5, to route the mouse to the location of the VO 
cursor.
11.  Press VO + CMD + Shift + SpaceBar to toggle the mouse-up action.

But, if it is an m4b book, you could add it to iTunes, and sync your device, 
and I suspect it will be available either in Apple Books or under music, but in 
the book category. Or, if you have Voice Dream Reader, just import it there 
where you can play it quite easily.

Since Apple owns the Books APP, and because Apple doesn't want outside sources 
to use its APP, it's my understanding that you can't move books or any other 
files from Dropbox directly into the Books APP. Sorry.
