Re: A Question About The New Emoji Keyboard in iOS 8.3

2015-04-09 Thread Wayne Merritt
Christina,
When you are in an edit box and you bring up the emojy keyboard, in
the bottom left corner is the switch to button, then the recently
used button, then the buttons for the different categories of symbols.
This morning I switched to the emojy keyboard, changed my typing to
standard typing, then double tapped the people category. I then put my
finger where the emojy symbols started and started flicking right. I
never came to a page chooser and must have gone through between 30-50
symbols before I found the one I wanted. You could use the same method
but put your finger on the switch keyboard button and flick left, and
you would be going from last to first. And remember when you choose
the symbol you want, to switch back to touch typing or whatever method
you usually use.

Have fun,
Wayne

I found other instances of that on the symbols that I use most often.

 Hi

I have to say that I hate the emoji keyboard!! Here is how the emoji
keyboard is laid out now. There are now 8 categories of emoji's. The
 tabs
are along the bottom. A few new emoji's have been added. The reason it
seems as though that there is less is because each of the individual
categories are no longer listed in pages per category. There is now one
long list of emoji's with no clear division of each category. To make
 his
clearer, if you choose the People tab, you are now able to swipe
 through
all of the categories without choosing the next category tab.

 Donna

 Hello Everyone,

You know, I was going to update my 5 S from 8.2 to 8.3 just after I
updated my 6 Plus to 8.3.

Then, for whatever reason, I decided to hold off and do a little
 comparison of various features.

I'm sitting here fiddling with the new Emoji keyboard and, from my
perspective, there does not appear to be as many symbols as in 8.2.

I realize that I must be missing something but, for the life of me, I
cannot figure out what it is.

In 8.2, when using the Emoji keyboard, there are several tabs at the
bottom of the keyboard. Above the keyboard, there are sub-pages
listed as page 1, page 2, etc. The pages at the top offer more
symbols that exist in the category that is selected at the bottom.

Now, in 8.3, as far as I can tell, there are no sub-pages per category
 but rather 20-pages, altogether.

Of course I realize that some of the symbols now offer varying skin
tones that may be accessed by a double-tap and hold but, even with
this, from my perspective, there seems to be fewer symbols from which
 to
 choose.

Perhaps there is a new gesture I'm missing or something.

I would appreciate any feedback on this as I am a little confused.
