Re: Did anyone have problems reading Jonathan‘s article?

2018-04-09 Thread Wayne Merritt
If you open the article/link in Safari or read it on a Windows PC, you
should not have any trouble. I saw the article posted here but read it
in Internet Explorer with JAWS on Jonathan's site and had no trouble.
Yes, the 2 finger flick down is the VoiceOver gesture to perform a
continuous read, or "say all" if you prefer.

Yes, when I tried to perform a continuous reading command, I lost speech.
The only way I could read it, and I haven’t finished it yet, is to
continually swipe through the article. Don’t know why this occurred.

Re: Did anyone have problems reading Jonathan‘s article?

2018-04-07 Thread Eric Oyen
Sounds to me like someone at the apple development team thought it would be a
good idea to buffer all that text. It sounds like a good idea, until you run up
against both the CPU limitations and the memory limitations of your device. At
that point, voiceover (which can be resource intensive) will bog down (or fail
completely as has sometimes happened).

I read books from Kobo, and for some months now, the longer the chapter, the
longer it takes VoiceOver to start reading after the command to read from the
top. It’s as though VoiceOver is digesting all the pages before beginning to
