The heart rate updates constantly. On the Fitbit itself, it will show you that. The app also shows you an update, but you have to keep going to it. That's the only advantage to the watch that I know of. I use my Fitbit for heart rate as well. But I don't get as many options in the app, as you do on the Fitbit itself. The app has an update, and I haven't looked at the heart rate there. Perhaps it is a little more choose a book?
