Re: Mark on the Shortcuts App, It Really Does Work

2019-02-04 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Ryan,

The output of one action is the input for the next. So my guess is that you
would need to have the Dictate Text action first, and then the one to post to
Facebook.

Best,
Anna

2019-02-03 Thread Ryan Mann
I like the Shortcuts app, but I never figured out how to do what I really
wanted to be able to do with it. That is, to do a post on FaceBook. I tried
to create a shortcut with the phrase of post to FaceBook. When I searched in
the list of commands, I found something that would post text to FaceBook but I
couldn’t get it to get dictated input.

And for those who like the Google Assistant you can actually make a shortcut
and record some phrase like "Hey Google" or "Launch Google Assistant" and SIRI
will open the Google Assistant app and it will listen instantly. So,
essentially, you push the home button to get SIRI to listen and in my case say
"Hey Google" and you hear an app opening and a second or two later you hear the
tone indicating Google is listening.

Subject: Mark on the Shortcuts App, It Really Does Work

Hello Everyone,

You know, up until today, I could not fathom why I would ever use the shortcuts
apps.

As an F.Y.I., For various reasons, I tend to reboot my beloved 8 Plus, a
minimum of once, per day. Also, before rebooting, I close any and all running
apps.

As I always launch the same three apps at restart, the Watch app, Fit Port, and
Over Drive, I decided to give Shortcuts a try.

To my amazement, it took only moments to create a simple shortcut that launches
all three of these apps, at the same time, by either telling Siri to, "Launch
my favorite apps," or by tapping the My Favorite Apps widget located on the
Today screen. Very, very nice.

Please note that the name of the widget, located on the Today screen, reflects
the name of the newly created shortcut.

The key to creating this Shortcut is to search for the [Open Apps] action in
the Shortcuts app. The rest is truly self explanatory.

So, if there are multiple apps that you always launch at any given time for any
given reason, try creating your own favorite apps Shortcut.

The Shortcuts app, It really does work.

Mark
