Re: Ring Door Bell
Hello everyone,
Thank you so much to Cristoble, Holly, and robin for offering their
knowledge regarding the ring doorbell and how it works. I really
appreciate it. I have
read all the responses from others who had some questions as well. I
didn't respond right away, because
Thank you so much Robin for letting us know. I got my dot answering
all my cameras now. For those just starting, be sure you let your
devices be discoverable through the skill, not through devices.

I have my echo spot in the kitchen, where I spend most of my time, but it would
be nice to have my little dot, in the living room, also have two way
communication with the doorbell.
I will work with it tomorrow.
Thanks for the help.

Hi,
I believe they rolled this out
around November. It worked with my 2nd gen dot before I
upgraded. Like I said sometimes I've found more times than not

This is good news for many. I hadn’t heard this, and my ring doorbell is over
a year old, so, at that time, I wasn’t able to use the dot for two way
communication.
I wonder if it will work with older dots.

The two way communication to the doorbell will only work if you have a
screened device, like an echo show or the small echo spot. I got the echo
spot to be able to talk to the doorbell.

So I just set up the ring.com skill with my dot, and when I say "talk
to the front door" alexa says it doesn't support that. Any ideas? I
would love to have this skill work.

hi Robin:
Is this a recent upgrade to the echo dot? I didn’t think it was possible to
talk to the door without an echo show or an echo spot. I know you will get an
alert, but don’t think you can have two way communication without a screen
device.
I got a ring doorbell about a year ago, and
How to you pair the Ring to the Echo devices please? Thanks much.
