Never mind about knfb reader. Unless you know ahead of time that you are
dealing with a picture of text it will not work in knfb

I just noticed that dropbox does not offer “seeing a I” as an option. It looks
as if you will have to send it to knfb if you have it.

Yes, it does sound like we're talking about a PDF that contains a scanned image
of a document. This would have to go through some OCR first, and I think that's
what the person is asking. They're asking if Seeing AI, and not VoiceOver, can
perform the OCR on this image so VoiceOver has some text to read. They aren't
asking if VoiceOver can read the text out of an image itself.

BTW, JAWS and NVDA have OCR utilities built into them, so you can get some OCR
with those screen readers.

Getting as close as it could of a description. Based on objects or other thinks
it has seen on the web.

Any picture you have in dropbox can be sent to Seeing AI. Here are the steps
you must take to send a picture to S-AI.
1. Open the folder where you have photos stored in dropbox.

2. locate a photo and DT (double tap)

3. choose share

4. DT "open in"

(note: if this is your first time adding "seeing a I" to your share you must
first dt the second more option and turn on "recognize with seeing aa i)

5. dt recognize with seeing a i

Re: Seeing AI and PDFs

2017-08-07 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Yes, it does sound like we're talking about a PDF that contains a
scanned image of a document. This would have to go through some OCR
first, and I think that's what the person is asking. They're asking if
Seeing AI, and not VoiceOver, can perform the OCR on this image so
VoiceOver has some text to read. They aren't asking if VoiceOver can
read the text out of an image itself.

BTW, JAWS and NVDA have OCR utilities built into them, so you can get
some OCR with those screen readers.

It would also be nice to be able to import pictures from dropbox or
the web and have seeing AI tell us what it thinks the picture is.
Getting as close as it could of a description. Based on objects or
other thinks it has seen on the web.

2017-08-07 Thread Kay Malmquist
You might try to see if it is listed under the more menu in the share
choices. Sometimes there is a second more option and SeeingAI is listed
there. I have found that it reads PDF very nicely.

VoiceDream Reader can open and read .pdf files. I usually plop the
.pdf in Dropbox and pull it in to VDR from there.

I am talking about a PDF file that is still an image, with no OCR done on
