Aging effect of a VNC session

2006-01-25 Thread Com MN PG P E B Consultant 3
When running a VNC session over a long period - say, one or two weeks -, strange aging effects sometimes occur. For example, the output of text (such as echoing the characters in a xterm or kterm window, or text entered in the entry field of a web browser) or the effect of clicking on a pull-down

Ronald, Please see bug number 15 at http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.0/known-bugs.html. This is a bug in the core X server code, upon which VNC Server for UNIX is based, and is addressed in all current VNC releases. Cheers, Wez @ RealVNC Ltd. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL

RE: Tunneling VNC

2006-01-25 Thread James Weatherall
Hannu, This has nothing to do with tunnelling VNC through SSH. SSH is a port-level tunnel, not a TCP-level tunnel, so the problems of multiple-level retransmission caused by TCP-over-TCP do not occur. Anecdotal evidence suggests that certain firewalls/routers and possibly Hamachi itself don't

Wez, I see this solution as a way to encrypt the tunnel with very little configuration, avoid the use of dynamic DNS servers AND allow for an easy method to do file transfers. You mention that this can possibly be not as easy as it seems. Have you got any experience with Hamachi in particular

Logging VNC usage

Just wanted to know, does VNC log when users connect and disconnect and/or is it possible (without recoding) to make it do so? Thanks. ___ VNC-List mailing list VNC-List@realvnc.com To remove yourself from the list visit:

Mouse syncronizatoin

2006-01-25 Thread Tom Smith
I've tried QEMU and Bochs and both work fine at the console. But when used over a VNC connection the mouse just runs wild. I understand this to be an issue with mouse synchronization. As near as I can tell, neither of those groups has a solution to this problem. Not being a programmer, I don't

Tom, VNC Enterprise Personal Editions address this issue by supporting relative pointer motion, which is what QEMU and Bochs require. Cheers, Wez @ RealVNC Ltd. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tom Smith Sent: 25 January 2006
