I use VNC 3.3.6 for remote administration on about 80 PCs running WinXP, Win2K, Win98 and Win95 running in a mixed Win2000/Netware WAN. All workstations are configured to run VNC as a service so they automatically load VNC. It works very reliably for me on our local segment but I do experience some problems when remotely controlling PCs across our VPN.

I frequently find that I can connect to PCs on the opposite side of our VPN but cannot get keyboard or mouse control. This is particularly true after a remote system is rebooted and is at a login prompt. The fix is to call someone at the remote site and have them reboot the system on their end and I often need to reboot my PC to clear the problem. The problem goes away until the next reboot of the remote system. I never experience this problem on the local segment.

The PCs on the remote end are Win95 and Win98 machines running Netware client v3.32 SP1 (the latest). They are configured identically to PCs on the local segment that do not have the problem. The VPN is between (2) eSoft Instagate EX units that run a Linux OS. Everything else seems to work fine across the VPN.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
