I have to retract part of my recent analysis of Feynman's
ratchet. The first effect recoil of the launch and first
effect of the impact of the pawl are both produce torque
rotating the racchet wheel in the opposite to ratcheting
direction. The secondaty effect of heating of the
mechanical reaction carying gas during impact and cooling
of the mechanical reaction carying gas during during
launch are opposite. The solid to solid non motion is
still true.
