You're absolutely right, of course. I intend to fix that. I just wanted
to show everyone the work in progress to prove I'm actually doing
something over here :-)

Possible solutions:

- make them look different

Right, that's the obvious thing to do :-)

- hide the "id tag" when there is actual speech

Well, in that case we'd want to draw the nametag in the speech bubble so
you can still tell who's talking.

- only show the "id tag" when the user clicks on something in the UI (an
"identify people" button?)

Yes, there should be a preferences checkbox for "draw nametags".

- only show the "id tag" when it might be relevant... like a 3d version
of tooltips

I like this idea... It could display the name when the mouse hovers over
the avatar for some amount of time.

And so says Peter Amstutz on 12/08/05 13:50...

from the screenshot, it seems there is also a bubble thing identifying
the user, and both look like exactly the same. That would be a bad idea
IMHO.

Possible solutions:

- make them look different

- hide the "id tag" when there is actual speech

- only show the "id tag" when the user clicks on something in the UI (an
"identify people" button?)

- only show the "id tag" when it might be relevant... like a 3d version
of tooltips

- any combination of the above

best,
   Lalo Martins
