Re: [vos-d] Dynamic interpreted languages getting more popular.
Nope, well not AFAIK anyway unless ms have changed something in .NET2. ASPX pages are actually compiled on the fly when you first browse to the page. Makes for faster rendering I guess? Despite it's repeated use of terms like managed code and enterprise and claim that C# is the big winner, the survey shows that interpreted languages like Python, Ruby, etc. plus scripting languages (into which they lump Perl, PHP and Javascript???) show a lot of growth also. C++ has a slight loss, Java has a bit of growth. http://www.infoworld.com/article/05/11/30/49FErrdevelop_1.html?s=feature No offense, but this is a wretched article ;-) The Programming Language Momentum graph is absolutely horrid. They're comparing HTML to C++?!? They're counting Perl *twice* under both the Scripting and Dynamic Languages?!? Deployment Platform Momentum lists Windows.NET, Win32 and OS X, but not POSIX??? An increase of 23% in C# usage can just as easily mean that this year, five people used C# instead of four. *beats head against wall* There are lies, damn lies, and statistics, but the absolute scum at the bottom is meaningless corporate IT business-speak :-) [ Peter Amstutz ][ [EMAIL PROTECTED] ][ [EMAIL PROTECTED] ] [Lead Programmer][Interreality Project][Virtual Reality for the Internet] [ VOS: Next Generation Internet Communication][ http://interreality.org ] [ http://interreality.org/~tetron ][ pgpkey: pgpkeys.mit.edu 18C21DF7 ] -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFDnkpjaeHUyhjCHfcRAiYwAJ950Xvwl9LmmdkY9r5ABwltWs/zxwCfXaiZ eWa/R5+yU8Eg6oo8XJ5Xy20= =3Zir -END PGP SIGNATURE- ___ vos-d mailing list vos-d@interreality.org http://www.interreality.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/vos-d
