I tried to compile the kernel on target machine Alix but failed.
My steps:
1) dpkg -i linux-source-2.6.26-voyage_6.0-3_all.deb
2) cp sierra.c /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.26-voyage/drivers/usb/serial/
3) cp /boo/config-2.6.26-486-voyage /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.26-voyage/.config
4) make

it seems you are on a chrooted environment, to avoid those warning at
the beginning:
locale-gen en_your country here.UTF-8
export LANG=C LC_ALL=C
the not in control info might be 'cause you didn't set up the name in
General Setup -- Local version - append to version
that solved
