If I connect to the host directly (eg: \\vs01\foo) there is no problem (will need user/pass, but that's ok). Mmmm, the error message musn't be about rights, but certainly about host not found, is it ? I discovered Windows is sending broadcast packages[...] Yes, just a little :D !!! Many of them, if not all, are related to machine discovery and name resolution. But you can avoid most of these broadcasts by using a WINS server (WIndows Name Service). This acts like a kind of DNS, where every machine (even servers) registers itself upon bootup, and is deleted when going down. So, the WINS server keeps IP = NetBIOS name correspondance records. I use this at work, and it works with a mix of NT, 2000, Samba, vserver+Samba clients and servers without any problem. And my vservers have _no_ capabilities ! That's great! That was an option if this mailinglist wouldn't provide a solution :), but Herbert came (via privat e-mail I just saw) with the following solution: try adding the broadcast ip (192.168.1.255) to the list of ips assigned to the guest (i.e. add another interfaces subdir with a nodev entry and the broadcast ip) So I did add an extra interface: ../interfaces/1/nodev'empty' ../interfaces/1/ip 192.168.1.255 And that worked! ... but ... It is very useful, even if you have two machines : Just setup one as a WINS server, the other as a client and the NetBIOS resolution problems will go away (like to wait 14 minutes for machine discovery) ! On the server's smb.conf : wins support = yes On the clients' smb.conf (which can be file or print servers ;-)) : wins server = ip.of.wins.server Will try winbind later on, it seems to be a good option! That interface is fixed to show the vserver's ip address in 2.1.x-rcX (don't remember which rc it was fixed in), but not in 2.0.x, so Samba cannot determine the ip address that way, unless the ifa is named (that case works even in 2.0.x). Hi Khan, I'm running several tomcat5 installs in virtual guests, so I somehow got it working :) Propably you must adjust ./conf/server.xml with these two lines: ... Engine name=Catalina defaultHost=IP_or_hostname ... Host name=IP_or_hostname appBase=webapps ... Hope this will work for your. [RE:] [vserver] Clone an existing Server
try to build your vservers in loopback devices. e.g.: dd bs=1024k if=/dev/zero of="IMAGE NAME" count="SIZE IN MB" losetup /dev/loop0 "IMAGE NAME" mkfs.ext3 /dev/loop0 mount /dev/loop0 "VSERVER DIR" install-fc1 "VSERVER DIR" minimum for backing up just umount your image and copy it to a different destination. i made that from a athlon architecture 2.4.27-vs1.29 to a celeron architecture 2.6.11-vs1.95 and it worked for me (Fedora Core1 Vserver). [Vserver] Linux-Vserver - Another Feature Question

[RE:] Re: [Vserver] Linux Vserver - Feature Question
Thank you for your fast answers. I/O Limit for virtual machines. E.g. when you do a gzip job in a virtual machine, the I/O Load and cpu Load will be quite high. To limit the cpu load is implemented i know, but the i/o load? in detail: - maximum write/read speed of a common sata disc 60/60 MB/s - all of the vservers are installed on that disc would it be possilble to limit write/read speed for single vservers to split the speed of the disc? For vservers with many copy, gzip or in special backup jobs it would be quite usefull. [Vserver] interfaces that should appear inside a vserver
Hi all ML. I'm a n00b of Vserver ... this is my 2nd day :) I've a doubt about eth interfaces and how they should appear inside a vserver. I've installed a Debian Vserver following the howto i found on the Main Vserver site and i feel really satisfied . I'm using an Interface alias on eth0 ... now my doubt is that inside the Vserver i see both the eth0 and eth0:template-debian interfaces ... is this normal? ipv4root works well , so any service i start , even if in the configuration i set 0.0.0.0 as Listening address , listen only on the ip of the proper alias interface. Thanks in Advance P. ___ Vserver mailing list Vserver@list.linux-vserver.org http://list.linux-vserver.org/mailman/listinfo/vserver
