I have multiple vservers on a Debian box, they all work well when
started manually with
vserver vservername start
I have problems to get them automatically running whenever the host is
booted. I have activated vservers-default init script to do the job but
this does not work.

shouldn't your /etc/vservers/vserver-id/apps/init/mark file only
contain default ?
