Re: [Vserver] Upgrade main server from 2.4 to 2.6 kernel

If I upgrade/install a new 2.6 vserver kernel on an existing system _*should*_ my old vservers ( created with a 2.4 kernel ) still work. I realize there might be a few gotchas but for the most part should they work? The only real problem I've had upgrading the host from a 2.4 kernel to a 2.6 kernel was due to the inclusion of NTPL (NPTL?) in 2.6 which breaks Berkley DB (if it isn't compiled with support for NPTL). If you're running RPM based guests watch out because RPM breaks! Regards Darryl ___ Vserver mailing list Vserver@list.linux-vserver.org http://list.linux-vserver.org/mailman/listinfo/vserver

File attributes have been changed; the Kernel 2.4 to kernel 2.6 transition paragraph at http://linux-vserver.org/alpha+util-vserver contains some hints but is far from being perfect (e.g. dot files are not converted, and such with whitespace are handled wrong also).
