Your DOCX files contain EMF graphics. Unfortunately this very common format is not yet supported. This means that the EMF graphics embedded in the DOCX file are not automatically converted to SVG. It's true that this limitation is quite unexpected.

There is no need to specify the output image format. XMLmind Word To XML generates PNG or JPEG for input raster images and SVG for input vector graphics. That is, XMLmind Word To XML restricts itself to the image formats supported by Web browsers.
