Hi everyone.
Is there any one in WAMUG who is knowledgeable about creating ePub files that
can be read on an iPad?
I have a MS Word (2011) document that I want to convert to ePub. I have saved
it as PDF and used Calibre to convert it but it comes out ok in parts and

There are a number of Word to EPUB converters out there. Most do require
that the Word document is properly structured before converting. E.g. use
Heading 1, Heading 2 etc. consistently. Use Sections properly etc. Avoid
style sheet overrides. This ensures that your document is properly broken up

Yep, that's right. July is nearly over which means that the August WAMUG
Monthly Meeting is just around the corner. Or just over the hill, depending on
which university you went to.
Anyway, don't forget to set your iCals up for this Tuesday, 2 August 2011.

I also joined the Filemaker forum and had a couple of useful

Calibre does not directly convert .doc/.docx files from Microsoft Word.

Hi All,
I upgraded to Lion, no major problems. The only problem I have found
so far is the disappearance of the download window and it's related
menu in the 'Window' menu.
From Safari (Version 5.1 (7534.48.3)) help:

Hi Paul,
I am not sure if the help file you are reading is intended for Snow Leopard (OS
X 10.6) or Lion (OS X 10.7). If it is intended for Lion then it is in error
because in Lion Safari has no download window. The download window has been
replaced by a small icon at the top right hand side
Thanks Ronni,
It is a new learning area for me. But with your advice and that of the other
WAMU people I am gradually getting my head around it.

Hi Carlo,
The perils of high speed internet access! I am on a high speed, experimental
fiber optics line (I recently moved back to Singapore) that can reach giga-bit
speeds. I have never seen the blue progress thermometer so I did not realise
what the purpose of that icon was. grin
Thanks
No problem Paul. We're happy you are still following us all the way from
Singapore! By the way, lucky you with a giga-bit optical fibre internet
connection -- maybe we can entice you back with the NBN. :-)
Cheers,
Carlo

Hi Neil,
Fantastic video, as you say, just for a look at the beautiful lines of the
carbon fibre bicycle. Shifting gears without moving ones hands may be an
advantage while in an aerodynamic tuck position in a time trial, but I agree
with you in that I don't think the technology will be
