Hi Severin,
Try this:
Opening/Editing –
1. Open Microsoft Word
2. Click File
3. Click Open
4. In the Files of Type: dropdown box change to All Files (*.*)
5. Browse to the file
6. Click it and select OK
7. It should perform the conversion

Hi Severin and All,
There is a utility called WordPerfect Viewer ($9.99) which is available on the
Apple Apps Store. I believe this will do what you want.
Not sure if there is a free utility, but I understand you can use NeoOffice

I found that and tried it. Converted but much garbage included.
Thanks

Hi Muggers
I have Snow Leopard on my MBP, I asked Daniel not to give me Lion as I still
need to run Rosetta.
A friend in Melbourne got a MBP later with Lion and hates it. I know some
people who installed Lion have reverted but is this possible on a MBP that came
with Lion pre-loaded?
Best
Hi Diana,
Short Answer: NO!
As the new MBP came with Lion installed, Snow Leopard will NOT install as you
cannot install an older operating system.
You can always upgrade but not go backwards on a new computer.

How can I open a .bin file on my iMac 10.6.8?
I downloaded a firmware upgrade for my Zoom H1 microphone from the
manufacturers website. The downloaded folder has a .00E extension. Finder
shows it contains a .pdf file (which I can read OK) plus a .bin file. Double
clicking the .bin file
Hi Diana,
Actually, IF your friend has NOT had a firmware upgrade on her new MBP she
would be able to install Snow Leopard using a Snow Leopard Retail installation
DVD.
If the MBP is the same model you purchased from Daniel, then it would be the
same firmware.
So if it has not done a firmware
Hi Alan,
Do you have ‘The Unarchiver.app’ on your Mac?
If so, starting with the original archive (not the CPGZ Archive Utility creates
when it tries to extract it), use 'The Unarchiver' to open it.
It's a lot more capable, and is usually able to figure out how to unpack it.
I’ve used it for

Hi Ronni (again)
Unfortunately, I got a caution info message to the effect that The Unarchiver
could not extract the content of the file.
Would the .bin file be the actual working firmware that just needs to be copied
to the Zoom device? The Japanese website said to download the 0.3 MB ZIP
Hi Alan,
Taken from the website: There should be a SYSTEM.BIN file after unzipping the
file and should show as a drive on your desktop.

First you will need to download the Firmware update.

Hi James,
Have you tried quitting the Applications causing problems in Activity Monitor
and also check in Console the logs, as I mentioned previously?
If no process stands out then one at a time select an opened application (one
you started) and try to quit the application via Activity Monitor
Hi Ronni
I have an H1 which is a very much poorer relation to the H4n.
The H1 uses a micro SDHC card which is the only drive (no pre-existing folders)
that shows in Finder. I copied the file H1MAIN.bin to the Zoom to see if the
iMac had automatically extracted the zipped file I was expecting.
Hi Ronda

Yes, I know what you mean, I downloaded the 'How to Update The Firmware’, and
anything else I could find on their website.
Updating the firmware only gave instructions for H4n, but I felt it would be
the same for H1.
So at least after all this we have the result you wanted ... your H1

Hi Diana,
If your friend is an active member of AUSOM, why didn’t she ask them?

correct advice.
