Hi Alan, No, Apple don't need the adapter back, or your iPhone/iPad they will just send a replacement if your serial number indicated that the adapter is one on the recall list. Not all of the same design are on the recall list, only the ones stated in the recall details on the link I sent

Hi Allan, The link I sent I had changed the country to Australia. And as I mentioned previously Apple require the serial number of the Mac or iOS Device that the adapter came with? Not the number on the actual adapter. Make sure you also have the serial number for the Mac or iOS device
