That makes a lot of sense considering my friend hasn't signed up for an

I never would have thought that the problem would occur for people who
are logged in and not for people who aren't.

I understand this -- I am a guest. Perhaps you are logged in but
don't have permissions to view the information. That is, perhaps the
error message is accurate and should be taken at face value? Perhaps
your friend was logged in a different user with different permissions?
