Hi Folks
You have almost convinced me to get a RD Macbook Pro to replace my existing
work MBP.
The Retina Display Macbooks dont have Firewire port.

My current sony is firewire
most new cameras are usb aren't
Hi Rod
Apple RMBP sales pitch says that a Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter will be
available in July. Go for the Retina Display!
By the way, does your Sony camera work as an external webcam (and recordable to
say iMovie) when plugged in?
Cheers

Is your Sony Firewire 800 or firewire 400? I think my old Sony Camcorder was FW

Cheers,

Hi Rod,
IEEE 1394 developed in the late 1980s early 1990s is FW400.
IEEE 1394c has FireWire 800 connector.
Check your FW cable that you use for i.LINK - DV-In/Out.
I think you will find the end that connects to your Mac is Firewire 400
connector not FW800.
