I¹ve got a Netgear DG834G and an Airport Express. I didn¹t bother with WDS.
The Airport Utility just connected the AE through to the wireless network
and by default I have extended my wireless coverage through the house end to
end, plus I can connect up speakers etc when I want to.

Only on the wireless network with WDS activated; not ethernet network, or
wireless networks that are not part of WDS.
