Hullo all Wamug Readers
I would just like to thank and acknowledge all who do take the time to
reply to various desperate cries for help, obviously to Ronni and
Daniel and some of the other regular WAMUG group in particular, who
reply to all requests for help, sometimes perhaps seemingly
Hi Rod All,
I am not going to add to Daniel's post as there is no need to.
Rod, your suggestion I had already tried (other than the out of
office reply) a while back when I had to take a break from WAMUG as I
got to Burn Out stage.
I unsubscribed my wn.com.au email address from WAMUG
Hi WAMUG
As much as I hate to open a can of worms, I need to address this issue to
the list.
The WAMUG list is set up as a free support group for all to ask their
questions and others to offer advice and fixes to problems or their own
experience.
Unfortunately of late their have been large
Evening all,
I completely agree 110% agree with everything Daniel has said. I'm a
part of ~5 mailing lists and when people message you off-list directly
it can add up to quite a huge time out of ones week when the time is
calculated!
I'm not an admin/director of the list/group (So I
Hi Everyone,
I also agree entirely with Daniel and David. Although I hardly ever question
the group, we should note that there is an enormous advantage in posting
questions and answers on the list. We can read through the archives, where
we are more than likely going to have the answer we are
Hi Daniel, thanks very much for the 'heads up' on this issue. I would
hate to lose Ronni's input to the list, both her knowledge and sense
of humour are much appreciated.
As well, as Philippe says, if people send queries off list, we lose
the opportunity to learn something that may be
Adding my 2 cents to the issue as well (while totally agreeing with
Daniel):
If someone contacts a member of the WAMUG group off list for tech
support without an invitation to do so, I believe that they should be
reported to the moderator. The moderator would then send them a
warning.
I notice that the e-mail addresses of members are often included in
WAMUG postings. So offline questions are made possible.
Should these e-mail addresses be deleted from WAMUG postings?

wamug cannot prevent offline postings, but the receiver (eg Ronni)
would have to setup a generic letter that explains that direct

this will pin down most of the problems and our gurus
Hi James
I understand what you're saying, but sometimes in Ronni's good nature she
finds it hard to say no, so ends up doing the work, researching and
finding answers for people.
The auto reply part to WAMUG means that all posts go straight back to list.
You have to change the address or type
Hi Guys
I would have thought that it was just plain good manners to wait until
you were invited to use someone's home address, as is normally the
case with a telephone number.
Thanks to the WAMUG list I have been able to sort through quite a few
problems, most self made.
Kind regards
Hi All,
I agree with what Dan has said, so no need to reiterate what has been
said.
One thing Ronni could do is subscribe to the list with a different
email address, then set an out of office reply to anyone who emails
direct to that address. Obviously her current email address might
