Now in the process of transferring files from old 3 and a half inch floppies to

bulk transfer.

Hi Alen,
Yes you can copy away with no fear. The difference between FAT32 and HFS+ (the
Mac journaled file system) is only the way the data segments of a file are
arranged on the disk and the method used to track them and keep them accounted
for. The actual contents of the file in both cases

Hi Bill,
Are you using office 2004? PPC applications are not supported in Lion.
Lion dropped support for Rosetta.
Your only option is to upgrade to office 2008 or 2011 (better choice), or find
another application to use such as Numbers.
If you have other PPC apps, they will not work either.
Also check for updates in your current version of Office.
Depending which version you have it can either be in the Help menu, Or the
program name (eg Word or Excel). Normally called Check for Updates...
Sometimes you also have to re run the Auto Update a second and third time to

I have had a query about launchpad from a friend of mine. As it is not
something I usually use I thought I would handball it straight to the experts!
She has both n iMac (27 2009) and an 13 Air (2011) both running 10.7.4. On
the iMac all her applications both those downloaded through App.
Ronni,
Tried Factory re-set again and after night (and day's rest) again, but no joy.
I think it's had it . Noticed the first backup was August 2009..so on the 3

I've re-connected my old Airport express, and that's working but it's another
story.

Hi Barry,
You can just select all your Applications in the Applications folder, and drag
them onto the Launchpad icon in the dock, they will then appear in Launchpad.

Is your friend aware that there is more than one page to Launchpad? By using a

Many thanks Ronni I will pass this on and let you know if this solves the

Hi Alastair,
To paste and match the style you have in the Pages document, use the keyboard
command that’s built into Pages... Command-Option-Shift-V.
What that does is paste into the current style, whatever it might be set at in

Copy the text from the PDF, switch to Pages, and then

Thanks for the suggestion of doc vs docx.
If you all have the versions of Word that can handle .docx, then you may as
well use that.
For a large complex document, there may be some technical benefit in the more
modern version - I don't know. Getting agreement over versions, and
