Hi Frank, I have had this problem intermittently on a very few occasions in past and in my case the server was always down. Can you log into your server with a web browser, say, and just check that the email account is functioning? If the server is down, when the server comes back up

Hello Ronnie, Thank you for the suggestion. In mailbox behaviours, there is no option to move to Trash mailbox only to separate folder and that is already ticked. I have deleted the items in the trash and the junk mailboxes and will try to keep a close eye on what is happening and when in case
