Re: iPhone upgrade issue

2016-10-03 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Bill,

You could try to Disable Voice Control when holding down Home button in iOS
10.0.2

You enable Siri (in Settings > Siri menu).
In Settings > ‘Touch ID & Passcode” ’ If you scroll down you will find a
switch labeled ‘Voice Dial' - switch it to OFF.
Go back to Siri menu and switch ‘Access on Lock screen' to OFF.

See if that helps you.

Cheers,
Ronni

Re: iPhone upgrade issue

2016-10-03 Thread Bill Parker
Ronni,

What I am getting is "Voice Control".Seems to be activated if I press too
hard.

I have followed the steps below but nothing has changed.

I am pressing too hard and too long I suppose, since it gives me what my next
calendar entry is along with Siri suggestions

Another idiosyncrasy to get used to!

Re: Sierra setup problem

2016-10-03 Thread Ronni Brown
Hello Rosemary,

How much RAM (memory) do you have installed in your MacBook Pro?

If you get an error message while installing macOS Sierra saying that you don't
have enough hard drive space, then restart your Mac and boot into safe mode.
To do this, turn off your Mac and wait 10 seconds, the press the power button.

Once you hear the startup tone hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
When the grey Apple logo appears, release the Shift key.

Once in safe mode delete any unnecessary files, or move them to an external
hard drive, to free up some disk space.

Then restart your Mac and try to install macOS Sierra again.

Cheers,
Ronni

Re: iPhone upgrade issue

2016-10-03 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Bill,

Do you mean you are enabling Siri when you Press Home button to unlock?

The "Press Home to Unlock" means you literally are pressing on the Home button
to trigger the Passcode entry screen or Touch ID.
Don’t press too long though otherwise you’ll enable Siri.

If you mess it up and wind up with Siri half the time, Disable the "Press Home
to Unlock" Setting.
With “Press Home to Unlock” disabled, you’ll just need to rest your finger on
the Home button instead of actually pressing it down.

How to Disable “Press Home to Unlock” in iOS 10 Lock Screen
The ability to rest a finger to unlock iOS devices is an option only available
on Touch ID equipped iPhone and iPad hardware with the latest iOS release,
here’s where to find the setting option:

Open the “Settings” app and go to “General” and then to “Accessibility”
Choose “Home Button”
Locate the setting for “Rest Finger to Open” and toggle this to the ON position
Cheers,
Ronni

Sierra setup problem

2016-10-03 Thread Rosemary Spark
Hi there,
I downloaded Sierra as I seemed to be OK (2012 macbook pro) (after backing
up etc Ronni!)

However, when it loaded it stopped and said there wasn't enough app
memory... with only Setup running!

So I said cancel...but it seems Sierra was loaded anyway.

I've now gone through my apps again and deleted even more of the
infrequently used onesthere's now 2.57 GB of App memory

When I looked at the Activity Monitor the app using all the memory was
Installer...then it dropped off while I was watching. It seems that maybe
some of the Setup was not complete.

How do I check if some Setup stuff is incomplete or re-install?

Cheers
Rosemary

Re: iphone/ipad backups

Hello Gary,

1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home Button at the same time
for at least 10 seconds.
2. Ignore the Red Slider that appears on the screen and keep holding both
buttons until the Apple Logo appears.
Release the buttons, the iPhone will restart.

You might need to Reboot both iPhone and your computer.
Somewhere between the phone and the computer something in the software is
frozen and not allowing the connection.

If still having the problem:
Check your USB connections - use the cable that came with your iPhone, switch
to another USB port on your computer.

If still having the problem - Is this a jailbreak iPhone?

Cheers,
Ronni
