Re: iPhone photo's.

2017-05-06 Thread Daniel Kerr
If you’re activating it the first time you’ll need to tick the box to “Start”
the sharing, then choose where you’re sharing it from (e.g. Photos or iPhoto).
Then you can choose if you want to share all photos, or you can separate albums
etc.

If you want to just show it directly from your iPhone, you can do the following.
Once you’re looking at a photo, you can click the little box with an up
pointing arrow. Then choose “Airplay”. Then choose the “AppleTV” in the list.

If you want to share the whole screen of the iPhone, you can also do this.
From the main home screen. tap from the bottom of where the screen starts in
the middle then slide up. This will slide open the “Control Centre”
In the middle of that window you’ll see on the left hand side “Airplay
Mirroring”. You can tap on this then choose your AppleTV. This will the mirror
your whole iPhone screen to the TV. Then each thing you do will be displayed
straight onto the screen.
You can then go through to your photos and show them that way.

Either of those options will work fine.
(to turn off Airplay Mirroring, just repeat the above but turning it back to
the iPhone.)

Ok Stephen, slight problem, “Share Photo’s to Apple TV”. In iTunes on your
Mac’, go to File> Home Sharing> Choose Photo’s to Share with Apple TV.
When I go to “Share with Apple TV, it is greyed out so I can’t choose it. Any
suggestions please?
Apple TV is working on the TV, so that’s not a problem, just streaming from the
computer to the TV is the problem.

The information that I have checked has stated that i can open a Photo file on
my desktop and watch this on my TV using Apple TV. Doesn’t work either.

Sounds good Tony.
The main thing is “backup … backup …. backup …. backup” !!!
Can’t stress that enough.

I open iTunes On my Mac and then use Apple TV to view photos, family videos,
movies rented from iTunes and for listening to music.

Hi Stephen
I normally use a card reader to upload my photo’s in Raw format, open the
Photo’s in either PS Elements or Affinity, delete the photo’s that I no longer
want, copy the file on to the desk top, to work on as required, and transfer a
copy of this file to a back up drive (or two).
I rarely use Photo’s on the Mac, so this evening I will play with Apple T V and
follow your instructions.

Thanks again Stephen for your advice

Yes Stephen that is good advice, TM backup and CCC as well in
parallel so always able to recover from catastrophes should they
arise. It means one has to have stacks of backup memory space and as
Photos libraries get bigger and bigger with multiple family members it
requires one to think ahead when planning backup locations for each
machine and aggregate memory space etc.

 Hi Peter,
Thanks for sending the images of the results of the Malwarebytes scan
earlier this morning.I’ve had a thorough look at the images of the
scan and include my finding, comments and advice below.
I will also, as I mentioned in my reply to you offlist a short time
ago, email you a couple of documents for James to help him understand
how this happened and can be prevented. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.app
is an excellent software program and can be used to check to see if
Malware is installed and most times can rid the Mac of the malicious
malware.
JAMES - MACBOOK PRO - MALWARE & ADWARE: _Malware_ Genieo - InstallMac
-  Spigot  - IronCore - Conduit - Jollywallet - OSX.VSearch -
Crossrider - PUP.Advanced Mac Cleaner , MegaBackup, OSX FakeFileOpener
& more.
‘Genieo’ (and ‘InstallMac’, another name for the same
software) is from InstallGenieo.A most prolific adware for years. It
has been in active distribution, with a very active Israeli company
behind it. Although the installer is available through the company’s
web site, it has also been seen numerous times being distributed
through installers that pretend to be something they are not, such as
fake Adobe Flash Player installers. This behaviour has been blamed on
third-party “partners” each time it has been observed.
It is highly recommended you download software direct from the vendors
site or from a source the vendor's site links to if hosted external to
their own site because of bandwidth.  In all cases don't rush through
the install and check what is being installed by choosing the 'custom'
option.
WHAT IS SPIGOT?  MALWARESpigot is a term used to describe potentially
unwanted applications developed by Spigot Inc. Adware created by this
company installs together with free software using a deceptive
software marketing method called ‘bundling’. Commonly, computer
users install such unwanted applications whilst downloading free
software.
Today, most freeware download websites (_including_ CNET DOWNLOAD.COM
[1], SOFT32.COM [2], SOFTONIC.COM [3], ETC.) use deceptive ‘download
clients’, which manage the download process of free software –
these small programs are also used to monetise the free downloads by
offering installation of promoted browser plugins.
Usually unwanted software and malware finds it's way to a user's
computer from infected web links, flash drives or during an
installation of popular programs. Most types of malware are designed
to hijack browser search and inject ad popups and to install doorways
and other malicious software.
_SOME MALWARE PROGRAMS CAN ALSO REVEAL YOUR SENSITIVE PRIVATE DATA TO
HACKERS AND RESULT IN ID THEFT, CREDIT CARD FRAUD._
James MacBook Pro Malware & Adware seems to have been eliminated by
James carefully following the cleanup process instructions given in
the Malwarebytes Scan result. James has run another Scan after
completely all the steps and all infections are resolved.
I feel we can now Close/Flag this thread as completed.
Cheers,Ronni

Re: Macbook Pro Certificates

2017-05-06 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Peter,

Thanks for sending the images of the results of the Malwarebytes scan earlier
this morning.
I’ve had a thorough look at the images of the scan and include my finding,
comments and advice below.

I will also, as I mentioned in my reply to you offlist a short time ago, email
you a couple of documents for James to help him understand how this happened
and can be prevented. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.app is an excellent software
program and can be used to check to see if Malware is installed and most times
can rid the Mac of the malicious malware.

James - MacBook Pro - Malware & Adware:
Malware Genieo - InstallMac - Spigot - IronCore - Conduit - Jollywallet -
OSX.VSearch - Crossrider - PUP.Advanced Mac Cleaner , MegaBackup, OSX
FakeFileOpener & more.

‘Genieo’ (and ‘InstallMac’, another name for the same software) is from
InstallGenieo.
A most prolific adware for years. It has been in active distribution, with a
very active Israeli company behind it. Although the installer is available
through the company’s web site, it has also been seen numerous times being
distributed through installers that pretend to be something they are not, such
as fake Adobe Flash Player installers. This behaviour has been blamed on
third-party “partners” each time it has been observed.

It is highly recommended you download software direct from the vendors site or
from a source the vendor's site links to if hosted external to their own site
because of bandwidth.
In all cases don't rush through the install and check what is being installed
by choosing the 'custom' option.

What is Spigot? Malware
Spigot is a term used to describe potentially unwanted applications developed
by Spigot Inc.
Adware created by this company installs together with free software using a
deceptive software marketing method called ‘bundling’. Commonly, computer users
install such unwanted applications whilst downloading free software.

Today, most freeware download websites (including CNET Download.com,
soft32.com, softonic.com, etc.) use deceptive ‘download clients’, which manage
the download process of free software – these small programs are also used to
monetise the free downloads by offering installation of promoted browser
plugins.

Usually unwanted software and malware finds it's way to a user's computer from
infected web links, flash drives or during an installation of popular programs.
Most types of malware are designed to hijack browser search and inject ad
popups and to install doorways and other malicious software.

Some malware programs can also reveal your sensitive private data to hackers
and result in ID theft, Credit Card fraud.

James MacBook Pro Malware & Adware seems to have been eliminated by James
carefully following the cleanup process instructions given in the Malwarebytes
Scan result.
James has run another Scan after completely all the steps and all infections
are resolved.

I feel we can now Close/Flag this thread as completed.

Cheers,
Ronni

I mentioned previously for James to download and run Malwarebytes
Anti-Malware for Mac  , has this been
 done?

James had his Firewall turned OFF, so

Re: iPhone photo's.

2017-05-06 Thread Stephen Chape
Hi Tony.
Plug iPhone into the Mac and transfer your photos to Photos.
This is a good idea anyway so that you have a backup of your photos.

Then make sure iTunes is open on your Mac.
Then when you use Apple TV you can select Photos from the Apple TV menu.
