Re: A Mail dilemma

2017-05-27 Thread Severin Crisp
Yes, I was aware of that Daniel - the iPad2 is on POP and the iPad4 is on IMAP.

When I can get my hands on to the iPads I will fix that and then they will all
be on IMAP.
A bit chilly down here but all those Macs take the mind off it!
Best wishes
Severin

Re: A Mail dilemma

2017-05-27 Thread Daniel Kerr
Hi Severin

This can sometimes happen if there is a mix of POP and IMAP accounts being used
across different devices.
So if some are set up to use POP3 and others IMAP, then that is why the dots
will disappear as others have been read.

Do you know which devices are using which? (you can check in Apple Mail under
Preferences - Accounts. and on the iOS devices it’s in Settings - Mail -
Accounts - tap on the account.) It will then show as POP3 or IMAP.
This will help narrow it down, which may be “marking it off” and which aren’t.

Hope that helps.

And no, I certainly wouldn’t comment on over Mac-intising,…beside’s I don’t
think I’m in any boat to comment,…as I myself have an iMac, MacBook Pro Retina
15”, MacBook 15” Touch Bar, iPad Air2, iPhone 7 and Apple Watch,…and that’s
even before I start on everything else in the house,….lol. :))
Besides,…can you EVER have too much Apple stuff??? :)

Kind regards
Daniel

I just reread this part of your original post.
If the emails have already been read on one device they will show on the other
devices but won't have a blue dot as they have already been read.

I have my 5 email accounts messages coming to 4 devices, all messages appear on
all devices, but the blue dots only appear on the first device that accesses
the Mail messages.
When I access mail on the other devices, all messages arrive but display as
read (No blue dot) because they have already been read by me on the first
device that I accessed mail on.

Ronni

Hi Severin,

Have you tried a Reset?
Press and hold both the home and power buttons until the Apple logo appears.
Release both buttons. Wait until the iPad starts on it's own.
Now test by sending yourself an email from the iPad.

Cheers,
Ronni

A Mail dilemma

2017-05-27 Thread Severin Crisp
The two of us have five macs between us - an iMac, a MacAir, an iPad2 mini, an
iPad4 mini and an iPhone. All was well until the recent advent of the iPad4.
We both have the same Apple ID and separate email names jointly under the same
ISP account.
Previously all incoming mails, to both our email addresses appeared flagged in
the list with the blue dot as “unread”. I duly set up the new iPhone - real
gem of an iPad! - with email only for Jenny who is in effect the sole user.
For convenience and filing by the housekeeper where necessary (me!) the other
four devices access both our emails. Since the advent of the iPad4 mini,
Jenny’s incoming emails no longer have the blue tag on any of the five
machines. I can edit the emails and flag them blue but how do I set that
feature for all incoming mails. My emails are still fine, but then they are
not handled at all on the iPad4
Advice please!
