Re: Unusual message

2018-01-18 Thread Ronda Brown
Hi Pat,

Are you running High Sierra 10.13?
macOS High Sierra 10.13 introduces a new feature that requires user approval
before loading newly-installed third-party kernel extensions (KEXTs). When a
request is made to load a KEXT that the user has not yet approved, the load
request is denied. Apps or installers that treat a KEXT load failure as a hard
error will need to be changed to handle this new case.

Approval is automatically granted to third-party KEXTs that were already
present when upgrading to macOS High Sierra.

This feature enforces that only kernel extensions approved by the user will be
loaded on a system. When a request is made to load a KEXT that the user has not
yet approved, the load request is denied and macOS presents the alert shown in
Blocked kernel extension.

This prompts the user to approve the KEXT You need to open System Preferences
> Security & Privacy - General and click ‘Allow’ to approve the KEXT.

Cheers,

Ronni

Unusual message

2018-01-17 Thread Pat
I was just backing up my hard disc when a strange message popped up.
“System Extension Blocked

A program tried to load new system extension(s) signed by “Legacy Developer:
Atto”. If you want to enable these extensions, open Security & Privacy System
Preferences.

Open Security Preferences OK”

I searched on the internet for “Legacy Developer: Atto” but the results still
didn’t tell me what was happening. Should I open Security & Privacy System
Preferences?

Cheers,

Pat
