iTunes seems to be erratic about acknowledging my iDevices: iPhone and iPad. Sometimes they can be in another room, but they still appear in iTunes. Other times like today, I wanted to recharge and update the iPad by plugging it into a wall socket and doing the syncing and updates by WiFi. But, even though the iPad was right on the desk beside the Mac and just over a metre away from the router, its name just wouldn’t appear in iTunes. The message on the iPad said it was searching for the Mac, but it never found it.
I checked all the preferences, and the appropriate ones were all correct: WiFi on, Sync by WiFi on, etc. Is there any way to prompt iTunes to recognise nearby iDevices other than by plugging them into the computer? This brings to mind a complaint I have about iOS updates: after an update, many of my preference settings have been changed and I have to go through all of them and reset them. It’s very annoying and time consuming.
