Generic icons

Together with some minor hiccups I notice that several apps are in the dock with generic icons. How do I fix this? In times gone by there was a disk utility to attend to this but not in these modern times. iMac with 1.5T fusion drive, High Sierra. Severin Crisp -- The WA Macintosh User
