How Timely – "I Pledge Allegiance" - By Red Skelton
http://home.att.net/~poofcatt/july.html

With all of the controversy surrounding the Pledge of Allegiance, sometimes we as Americans must stop and consider what these words actually mean.  The late Red Skelton explains the meaning of the pledge in an audio replay of his television program where "he related the story of his teacher, Mr. Laswell, who felt his students had come to think of the Pledge of Allegiance as merely something to recite in class each day."  The recitation is done as only Red himself could do and is most timely when taking into account what is going on in the United States today.  Take a few minutes to remember on what this country was founded and the importance of "Old Glory" to each American as you listen to this moving explanation of the basics of the American freedom.
