For some reason, Auria's sdl_gfx 2.0.20 was particularly broken. I 
already knew of stray pixels, but not such brokenness, and I had already 
tried to workaround as much as possible it. It seems it is not 
sufficient, and Auria reports also stray pixels with 2.0.22, thus 
somewhat strange.


Anyway, 2.0.20 is accessing data outside the buffer on some occasions, 
and this has already caused crashes for us, so I decide to require 
2.0.22 in the configure script.


There are various bugreports to request distributions to upgrade, but 
they don't look to be in a very big hurry:

There's little we can do in addition to improve the situation.
