Tried with gnome-shell/mutter with the Wine series and the fix (comment 7) and
this is exactly the same, I reckon the Wine series are unrelated to this issue.

FWIW Blender uses Xwayland and this definitely looks like it has to do with
pointer warp emulation (can be reproduced at will)
fly-mode behaves as if the pointer was over-reactive.
