The codepath *always* requests client-side decorations, instead of just falling
back to the default preferred server settings.

I've been using the Plasma beta release 5.11.95,, which supports XDG-Shell v6
in full. Maybe I should have been more clear about this, instead of making a

It shouldn't have to explicitly request SSD since that's the compositor's
default decoration mode, if I understand the protocol correctly?

MyPaint with G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all yields:
(mypaint:15359): Gdk-DEBUG: Compositor prefers decoration mode 'server'
However, MyPaint with WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 always yields:
