Judging by the timestamps you get regular jitter/wobble but then there's a
pause of ~100ms, just above the timeout that causes libinput to disable the
hysteresis on this device.

We need some smarter approach, i.e. something that analyses the motion for
wobbles and then disables/enables it based on that.

did you notice anything else behaving weirdly when resuming? usually the timer
offset error is caused by X being overloaded and not calling
libinput_dispatch() often enough. If you notice slow rendering and general
delays during that time, then it's most likely not a libinput bug.

Please test with a recent version of libinput, 1.7.0 is almost a year old which
is quite significant given how many changes libinput sees atm. We're close to
having a 1.10 release but 1.9.4 is the latest stable release.

I replayed both tap recordings here and they both give me a swipe gestures, so
maybe this has been fixed?

Actually, I'm encountering some anomalies in my configuration which have
convinced me that it's too soon for me to open a libinput bug about this. I
will open a new one when I am able to pin things down more, if there's still an
issue I can identify.

Prefixing libinput messages requires the caller to keep track of newlines,
libinput calls the log function multiple times per line. That's less than
ideal.

Bug ID: 104956
Summary: palm detection, disable while typing, disable tapping

   Product: Wayland
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal

 Component: libinput
  Assignee: wayland-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j...@kamens.us

I'm using Wayland in Ubuntu 17.10. It has libinput 1.8.2, or at least so the
version number on the package claims.

I have this in my /usr/share/X11/xofg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf:

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "libinput touchpad catchall"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "libinput"
Option "Tapping" "false"
Option "DisableWhileTyping" "true"
Option "PalmDetection" "true"
EndSection

None of the options specified there seem to be doing anything. I still
regularly accidentally tap by brushing against the touchpad, and similarly the
mouse cursor moves whenever I brush against the touchpad while typing.

I see from bug 101789 that there should be a "Disable While Typing Enabled"
property on the touchpad device, but it's not present on my device.

Any insights? What additional information can I provide you about my hardware
which will assist in troubleshooting this? Thanks.

I'd say so, yes. It's probably due to the modal popover taking a grab and then
the combobox menu tries to take another one. I tried reassigning to mutter but
the mutter bugtracker is on gitlab now so someone should open a new bug/issue

Well if there is some terminal open with fast scrolling text (tail -f for
example). It still gives some fps drop on the desktop.
But its like 10% anymore of what it was before the patch applied..

So way faster, not as fast as it was on X. But surely workable now!
