I too have noticed dirt roads on a lot of the shows. It could have been the
lot
was unpaved or maybe just Mayberry part. Anybody else got some ideas or know
why
the lot was unpaved.

I find it interesting that Ernest T. didn't know geography beyond Old Man
Kelsey's woods, creek, and ocean in one episode, but when Malcolm Merriweather
told him that his mom was born two blocks off Piccadilly Circus in London,
Ernest T. knew that was in England, not Ireland. I know that
I think Mayberry had dirt streets because they were slow in getting
government aid. But don't tell Uncle Ollie that.

I just watched the land of the giants season 1 episode 2 filmed in 1968
,where they emergency land in our mayberry, they called it midburry , the
street was paved in front of andys house and even one guy ran up on andys porch
knocking on the door looking for help but found no one home.
