Thanks for that info. Welford! I Googled the technical song title and it opened
on YouTube. Nice to listen to the piece without Barney’s sour notes! “Jon! You
stopped before I could tell who it was!”

Good ole 14A was written sometime before 1894.
It was composed by Anton Rubenstein of Russia who lived 1929 - 1894, and is, if
you want to get technical, Melody in F Opus 3 #1.
If it comes thru, here is the link: If not, Google Anton Rubenstein, melody in

Our “Welcome Sweet Springtime” is actually named “Voices of the Woods” written
by Anton Rubinstein in 1892.
Ken Anderson said he still had the record he bought when the song came out.

I taped an old movie recently on TCM; it was called "Four Wives." I only
watched a few minutes but there in that early timeframe, a young girl
was playing the violin and I distinctly heard the strains of "Welcome
Sweet Springtime!" According to IMBD, that film was released in 1939 so

Has anyone else detected the haunting strains of good ole' 14A in a
recent TV ad for Ortho Weed Be Gone? Or am I nuts? I'm almost sure some
of the melody played contains a few lines from Welcome Sweet Springtime.

In watching the Lawrence Welk Show this evening, during Arthur Duncan's
tribute dance to Bojangles Bill Robinson, it came to me that part of the
music was our Good Old 14A. I guess that song is just one more thing
embedded in my subconscious for eternity!

I just noticed I mis-wrote the first line to good old 14 A. I should have
said, I would like to wake up to 'Welcome sweet springtime we greet thee
in song' and not awe. I have no idea where that word came from.

I was watching the HBO series Boardwalk Empire today and on the second
episode of season 2 they're playing the music to a song in the background.
Guess what song. Yep, good ol' 14a-Welcome Sweet Springtime. I'm working on
becoming a trained noticer.
Lots of luck to you and yours,
Harvey
As any good choir member knows, it is good ole FOURTEEN A

The other night I was watching one of Alfred Hitchcock's early films, a 1928
silent comedy, on DVD. As soon as the credits started to roll, I recognized
the music being played as good old 14A!

This morning's episode of The Waltons, in which John-Boy graduated from high
school, depicted a crowd of folks in pre-ceremonial festivities. Faint
strains of Welcome Sweet Springtime could be heard on a piano very briefly
but it was unmistakably present and most welcome to this Mayberrian!
I was flipping thru channels Wednesday evening and came across an episode of
Roseanne. They were going hsopping at the mall and there was a Veteran's
band playing GOOD OL' 14 A.
Hope you have a Mayberry kinda day
