Found a great article on the 40 Acres Backlot. There was much more going on
besides TAGS, Star Trek and Gone With The Wind...as if we didn't know.

ADAM-12 did not film at 40 Acres. It was shot at Universal Studios, which had
its own city streets backlot. Location shooting was primarily on the streets
of the towns bordering around Universal... North Hollywood, Burbank, Studio
City, Toluca Lake and Universal City.

It's possible that the 40 acres lot could have been used, as studios did
borrow each other's backlot facilities from time to time. Fox produced Batman
used the 40 acres lot extensively in an episode featuring the villain False
Face. It was fun to see the Batmobile racing past the Mayberry
I was watching an old Adam 12 the other day and it sure looked like they were
shooting a scene on Andy's street.
Does anyone know if they shot any Adam 12's on the 40 acre lot?

Jake, there was one outside shot on Man with a Camera of a storefront that
I thought might be familiar but I wasn't sure it was 40 Acres.

I'm so excited! I just made another 40 Acres sighting. It was on an episode
of Mission Impossible from the first season titled A Spool There Was. In
the last, oh, fifteen minutes maybe, there was some location shooting that I
thought was on the Mayberry lot because I recognized the sides

Tonight my daughter and I sat down and watched the first episode of the first
season of Mission: Impossible on DVD. During an outdoor scene fairly early
in the episode, a church was in the background, and it looked very much like
All Souls Church on TAGS. Then I noticed some storefronts that

Just a thoughtbut why doesn't someone come up with a Mayberry
Subdivision somewhere? Design it on the basis of the town of Mayberry,
identical
stores and homes, and you know something? There would be a total sellout in
the first week!! And what a place to visit!! Why, the hotel may
Aunt Bee,
The 40 Acres backlot in Culver City was demolished in '75/76 to make
room for an industrial park. The back lot had fallen into extreme
disrepair and sat on some highly marketable real estate. The movie
Vigilante Force (1976) was the last movie filmed there and it is
saddening
I must have been drinking out of the courthouse crock. I forgot the link.

I sent this out some time ago, so I thought I'd send it again for those who
haven't seen this site. It's loaded with links and pics and takes awhile to see
it all. I may have other sites, but thought you might enjoy this.

That's really neat! I'm glad that you all got to go - were there any

I also love the 40 acres website. David had a good point...it is sad to see
with our own baby blues that Mayberry was just a Hollywood set. But, I
think the saddest thing of all is reading about how they bulldozed good
old 40 acres! I would have loved to wander through the place...what a trip

I love, love, love the 40 acres website. If you haven't visited, you must. I
really enjoy looking at the town of Mayberry and how it was laid out. And,
seeing different sets, like Tara and Aunt Pittypat's house, which was also the
Mayor's house. And, different pictures of the Rimshaw house
I was looking at the retroweb.com site the other day at the 40 Acres pictures.
The house known as Aunt Pittypat's in Gone With The Wind was located next door
to Andy's house. It was featured as the haunted house on that one TAGS show
and also the mayor's house. What I don't understand about
I saw some mentions of the 40 acres lot and Mission Impossible. I was checking
out all the early Mission Impossibles via Netflix
a couple of months ago and saw bunches and bunches of color scenes of the
Mayberry town. There are a few episodes in particular (I'm
hard pressed to name the episode
That is an excellent article, but there's an error in the first photo: a group
of buildings west of 40 acres (in this view, west is up) is incorrectly
identified as Desliu Studios. Desilu Studios was at 846 N Cahuenga in
Hollywood, about 7 miles away.

I found this website
The studio adjacent to the 40 acres lot WAS in fact one of three Desilu
studios. However, TAGS was not filmed at the one across the street but at the
location Paul described.

shot from a different angle than the aerial photo we are used to seeing. I was
wondering if someone on the list could
