A reunion of sorts with Ben Weavers Tol Avery and Will Wright on Maverick
today. Episode "Rope of Cards". No shoplifters or poorly made chairs were
present in the court room. I won't be a spoiler but you'll enjoy it when you

Just looking at Will Wright's (our Ben Weaver) biography. 1962's "The Merchant
of Mayberry" was one of Will's final roles in that he passed away that same
year. The startling fact was that Will was only 68. Will looked like he was
in his 80s.

as is said and done, in our heart of hearts, we all know there is really
only one Ben Weaver - Will Wright.

remind everyone that Jason Johnson also played Ben Weaver twice.First in
episode #172 (Aunt Bee Takes A Job), then in #187 (Goober's Replacement).

In regard to our two Ben Weavers. Will Wright played Ben in episodes #11,
#28, #54, while Tol Avery was Ben in episode #116. That would make Will Ben
#1 and Tol Ben #2. Tol was in two other episodes but not as Ben.

Was watching Lucy on TV Land, the episode when they are hand cuffed together.
The locksmith who tries, and fails to open the cuffs is the original Ben
Weaver, and he wasn't crabby!

Will Wright (Ben Weaver) Showed up in the episode of I Love Lucy that I watched
on Me TV. It was called (The Handcuffs) Will played the part of a locksmith
when Lucy put a set of handcuffs on Ricky that she thought were trick cuffs and
they were real cuffs and Fred didn't have the key

Just watched a Maverick episode with both Will Wright and Tol Avery - the two
Ben Weavers. Wright was a lawyer representing a man accused of killing Avery.
It's like if both Nurses Marys were in a show together. Other double actors as
same character are Dud Wash and Floyd Lawson. Can't think
Janet, Harry and Ben. Thanks for your comments about the article my wife Peggy
and I were recently in (our local Sunday Newpaper)

last name cant remember) arm coming through the door. Ben was wanting Andy to
arrest Sam for making moonshine.

Can anyone tell me why TAGS used so many men to play Ben Weaver? On two of the
episodes, Christmas Story and The Merchant of Mayberry he was played by
Will Wright. But a few others was different.
Also, did anyone else see Opie reach his arm into the lemonade pitcher? I'm

Watching an I Love Lucy this morning I noticed Ben Weaver was the sherrif in
Bent Fork, TN where Cousin Ernie Ford lived. Must be ole Ben got so tired of
chasing down speeders and trying to marry off his twin daughters, Teensy
Weensy, he thought running a store in Mayberry would be less hassle
He played the sheriff in Bent Fork, TN
Tennesee Ernie was on it too.
It's the show where Lucy, Ethel, Ricky and Fred stopped in on the way to
California.
