If you find yourself near Columbus NC looking for an interesting place to eat, I can recommend the Iron Key Brewery. They have a good selection of draft beers (Andy's preference over a Sazerac) brewed on site including one called Big House IPA. The site was a former NC work prison that was closed and repurposed in the 60s and reopened as a restaurant in 2020. Many of the buildings are still on site, including Solitary (no more carefree hours...). Good menu selection and good people. The hostess said she wishes they had AC but appreciated the breeze from the fans after being reminded that the former occupants didn't have that (or likely peanut butter and jelly sandwiches if Barney had his way).
