Take me out to the ball game In this context, it is correct english. but, What it is was football is incorrect english. That's because the actual title is What it WAS was football. My biggest pet peeve is when people ask Where are you AT? or Where is it AT? as if At is needed

Mayberry and college football

So what is the special connections?? Must be the colors - same as Mayberry Union High - blue and orange. There's an old joke about U of F - It's God's school cause the sky is blue and sun is orange (even though we know it's yellow). Kinda like Everything is AOK in Mayberry. which it isn't.
