Thanks to Ed for explaining what "I'll be dogged" means.
Got another one for discussion. A few times in the early episodes, Andy
uses a phrase "give her a little sugar", meaning giving someone a kiss. Is
this a southern expression? (never have heard it up here in t
Watching Christmas in Connecticut and heard something I missed all the other

I think it was The Lone Ranger and he said Hi O Silver and I believe Andy
said that when Malcolm pretended to be drunk and the silverware flew all
over the kitchen. High O Silver.

Other than the obvious Nip it. Nip it in the bud, my most used TAGS quote
is likely my mid-afternoon sinking spell.which I use when I hit the wall
and begin to slow down long around 3:00 p.m. or so!
-Greg (one of the biggest TAGS fans north of the Mason-Dixon Line)
Having attended just about every Mayberry event from 1990 - 2005, I got to
where I would come close to losing my lunch everytime I heard someone say,
it's big, big ain't the word for it. That phrase has been run into the
ground.

Griffith Show, I like watching this one.

I was watching some colour episodes yesterday and couldn't decipher a word
or phrase. When Andy threatened to fire him from the crossing guard duty,
ET said you're dashin' me? and Andy said I'm not dashin' you. Was it
another word and my ears weren't working or is that a southern euphemism
Andy says, Abyssinia. (I'll be seeing you.) Opie responds, See you Samoa.
(See you some more.) Both Abyssinia (now Ethiopia, I believe) and Samoa (a
group of islands in the South Pacific) are names of countries.
I'm giving one more plea for any information on a DVD of Return to Mayberry.

On Barney's Sidecar Opie is in the courthouse using his wood burning kit.
Andy asks him to take it home because he had a lot of work to do. When Opie
leaves, he says Abusinious and then Andy says See somoa (or something like
that.) I know these aren't spelled right..but does anyone
