In the episode "The Big House," when Andy, Barney, and Gomer are on the roof,
Andy and Barney use some sort of hidden (maybe exterior) stairway to get to the
roof, as well.
One episode has Andy late to a meeting at the Mayor's office, when it's just
upstairs...I always thought that was funny.

We never see it, but as others have speculated, there has to be a restroom
located near the back room of the courthouse.
The steps leading up to the mayor's office must be back there as well, but we
never see those either. (Remember, in The Loaded Goat, Mayor Stoner tells the
blasting engineer "But my office is up there." Another clue that the stairs are
back there comes in The Beauty Contest; Andy and Ellie exit the back door
immediately after leaving a meeting in the mayor's office.
And speaking of courthouse plumbing, there is a sink in cell #2, but not in
cell #1.
