I grew up in the 60's and it was a different time for sure from the way it has been for the last 20 years. I was a country girl and it was a real treat to go home from school with one of the "town kids". we used to walk all over town, go to the little store, maybe visit another kids house for awhile and I never remember our parents worrying about where we were as long as we were on time for supper. Then after supper we were back out again, walking the neighborhood, riding bikes, maybe just catching "lightnin' bugs" to put in a jar. Those were truly the good old days and it's sad that the children of today are not able to feel the safety and innocence that we enjoyed. I know that all places weren't "Mayberry" even back then, but there was just a simpler feel to life. We visited with our neighbors and knew them by name, spent time in the evenings on out front porches, it was just a more personal time. fortunately my small town still has that Mayberry "feel" to it. But as it grows and changes, I know that we could lose that. --------------------------------- Fussy? Opinionated? Impossible to please? Perfect.
