Smoking

2012-09-07 Thread Jason McQueen
The only episode I remember where Barney smoked was when he was locked in
the cell in the Citizen Arrest episode. Does anyone else remember any
other time that Barney smoked? The reason I asked this
question is that I was just watching the Loaded Goat episode. Barney
enters the dynamite shack and it is too dark to see inside the shack. So
Barney lights a cigarette lighter to see better. Why would a person who
almost never smokes be carrying a cigarette lighter? But if you look at
Barney real close when he comes out of the shack in the episode you can see
the outline of a pack of cigarettes in his shirt
pocket\Orville Hendricks - The Butter and Egg Man.
I caught Evan smoking when he was a teenager. After I got through with him
he was smoking out the other end.

Barney has a cigar in Club Men but never smokes it. Andy takes a cigar
from J. Howard Jackson because Barney likes to smoke one when he's feeling
special sporty. Barney has a pipe when undercover at the hotel in the gold
truck episode. I always assumed that Barney was a casual smoker on TAGS ...
only on special occasions. But I too can't remember Barney actually smoking
on screen at any other time.

Speaking of smoking on TAGS, did we ever see Otis smoke? Barney was going to
send a pack of cigarettes to Otis when he was in another jail. Elizabeth in Ga

3 dash 27

2012-09-07 Thread Ken Anderson
Boy Dan, if I got a a 3 dash 27 every time I told a bad joke, I would be
both broke and always in jail.

Had a thought at a car show last night. I wonder if the Amish ever have
buggy shows for their classic buggies.

Rubber baby buggy bumpers. Now try typing that three times really fast.

RE: WBMUTBB Digest postings

2012-09-07 Thread Harriet Browder

Ok, I've tried and tried and tried, and all I get is heartache, to get this
right but apparently the system doesn't want to cooperate. Every time I copy a
line from a posting and respond, my post has all the sentences slammed up
together. It doesn't happen when I email someone but only when I respond to the
Digest. For example I copy the line We all love Barney Fife. I insert it in
the response email as We all love Barney Fife, to indicate I'm reposting a
line from a previous Digest. Then I hit space bar several times and return
several times and insert my response Yes we do, don't we? But when the next
Digest comes out it is published as We all love Barney Fife. Yes we do, don't
we? And there are no blank lines between the reposted line and my response.
This doesn't make sense and I know some are wondering what the heck is she
talking about? So, I will not be sending any more posts until someone can help
me or Allen figure out what's going on. See you all in the funny papers.

smoking

2012-09-07 Thread jlj9675
I believe folks were already realizing the hazards of smoking tobacco back
when Mayberry first appeared so the writers may have been trying to
discourage this in the scripts. I believe Andy was only pictured smoking a
couple times. Since virtually no one smokes these days, it's more noticeable
in old shows and films. And I remember non-smokers lighting my cigarettes as
a gentlemanly gesture way back then when I indulged too (decades ago).

RE: WBMUTBB Digest postings

2012-09-07 Thread Allan Newsome
You need to stop using HTML in your email and use plain text. The
Digest only allows plain text so it converts any special formatting back
to plain text. When the software on the Digest side does that for you,
strangely formatted emails are the result.

I'm getting that is the problem. You'll want to Google your email client
to see how to do only plain text. I'm sure there is a way to do that with
hot mail, Harriet.

I think this link may help.
