Premium gas TV Land
Hey, Mayberry friends. Just a couple of things I noticed today while watching TAGS on TVLand. In the episode with Goober's talking dog he had two gas pumps labeled 'Premium'. Shouldn't one have said 'Regular'? Now, I may not be remembering this correctly, since it's been awhile since I've seen this one, but in the episode where Goober buys the filling station and is stressing so much over all the decisions he has to make, there's a salesman who comes, as I recall, to try to get Goober to put in a premium gas pump. Goober can't decide, so he sends the salesman to Andy for a decision. If that's the case, then there shouldn't be any pumps marked premium. I decided to take a look through my screen shots to see what I could find on the gas pumps. The results were interesting, and it just shows what you can miss as you're watching the shows. The first picture I had of the pumps was from Lawman Barney from season three. Interestingly, there are no labels at all on the pumps. Later that season, in The Great Filling Station Robbery, both pumps are labeled. The one on the left says Regular and the one on the right says Super Octane. In A Black Day for Mayberry from season four, the labeling of the pumps is reversed. The left pump is marked Super Octane and the right Regular. The last shot I have (so far) of the gas pumps is from later that season in Andy Saves Gomer. Now the pumps themselves are different and have different labels. The quality of the shot isn't good enough for me to read the labels, which are smaller than before. The one might say Premium Gasoline, but I can't tell for certain. I'll have to try to find more shots of the gas pumps. I'm not quite through with season five in my effort to compile screen shots. Anyway, Larry, your post caused me to discover some details I hadn't noticed before! As for TV Land, I don't watch it because we don't have TV. I realize that most of you out there do, and that may be the only way you have to watch TAGS. But I have all the seasons on DVD and enjoy watching the shows in their entirety and without commercial interruption. Last week, my daughter and I spent a few days at my parents' house after Christmas, and they get TV Land. (Naturally, they are TAGS watchers, too.) I was happy to be able to watch TAGS while I was away from home, but it drives me crazy when they cut out scenes, or partial scenes, from the show! Aaarrgh! I can't stand having my TAGS tampered with!! Now I'm back home and am back to my DVD's, which satisfy my purist tendencies. TVLand
I too sometimes watch Andy on TVLand but it distresses me when they insert ads for their own shows and nasty language. I have written to them to ask that they stop this but no answer yet. It just almost ruins the whole experience and I will sometimes change the channel when the ads come on but sometimes my hands are full of needlework or my new puppy, etc. so I must endure that assault; it sometimes makes me plumb nauseous! Otis's New Years resolution
I bet if Otis were to make a New Years resolution,it would be something along these lines...I vow not to drink any more in 2014,but then again,I probably will not drink any less either. Mayberry Sighting
I had the most wonderful Mayberry sighting tonight on New Years Eve. Antenna TV is running a Jack Benny/George Burns marathon, and I was watching a Jack Benny episode where he goes to a restaurant with Jimmy Stewart and Gloria Stewart. While there, Jack and his date decide to do a little dancing. Out on the dance floor, Jack's date bumps into Rolfe Sedan (veteran character actor who was a regular as the postman on George Burns).Rolfe Sedan stops dancing and turns to Jack and his date to say Please excuse me.Well, you would never guess in a million tries who Rolfe Sedan was dancing with.Since you cannot guess, I think I will tell you, it was Nice Dress Nelly. She was featured in a close up shot and for a second I thought she was going to say something.Later in the show I spotted her sitting at a table in the restaurant. That is the first time I have ever found her in any show but TAGS.I watched the credits, but they did not post her name, shucks .Orville Hendricks - Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man.Happy New Year Everyone.Eat more eggs. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
