Bad language

2014-01-28 Thread Alice
I agree with you Teresa about the bad language in the commercials for these
kinds of disgusting shows. Seems the commercials are the loudest. Think this
is a hint for tv land to want us to quit watching tags? I just hit the mute
button when they come on.

Floyd and Russell

2014-01-28 Thread Larry Hamrick
Hey, Mayberry friends. With all the talk about Floyd and his kin, I have to say
Happy Birthday to Mount Airy, NC's own Floyd, Mr. Russell Hiatt, at Floyd's
City Barber Shop. He has been greeting Mayberry fans for many years. I
understand it's gonna' be a Big birthday party for him today (Tuesday). Happy
90th birthday, Russell.

piano and alumni sighting

2014-01-28 Thread jlj9675
Did Helen's niece, that cute little girl who kept outdoing Opie on
everything, play their piano? I don't remember.Meanwhile, when flipping
thru the channels recently I came upon an episode of Star Trek in which the
city scene reminded me somewhat of Mayberry so I lingered and who should
appear but our own Arnold, pal to Opie, who was assisting Capt Kirk in some
scheme. Then in an episode of the Partridge Family, there was our Henry
Bennett; his hair was white by then but I recognized his sweet face almost
immediately.

I Got It

2014-01-28 Thread Ken Anderson
Don't worry folks, it ain't a disease. I got the final piano player. It
was none other than Alice Harper, Andy's old girlfriend. And why they call
her Andy's old girlfriend is beyond me. She certainly is not old.

And she is definitely not a boy.

-21 again this morning. I think it took me so long to come up with the
answer because my brain cell is frozen. That's right, brain cell. I only
got one.

Star Trek

2014-01-28 Thread Paul Mulik
Aunt Bee, the episode of Star Trek that featured young Sheldon Golomb (aka
Sheldon Collins) was called A Piece of the Action. It's a really fun episode,
second only to The Trouble with Tribbles in the laughs department.

It wasn't filmed at 40 Acres, however a few other Star Trek episodes were,
including The City on the Edge of Forever, Miri (featuring Michael J. Cousin
Virgil Pollard), and Return of the Archons. Miri, especially, features the
downtown area, and includes a great high-angle shot of the street when Kirk and
crew beam down, a view never used on TAGS, as they were always careful not to
show tall buildings which would ruin the small-town feel.

It's fun to look for Mayberry on other TV shows from that era. It was
recently announced that Batman, which also used the same back lot, is finally
coming to DVD; I can't wait to get my hands on that one. BIFF! BAMM! POW!

Bad Language and Then Some

2014-01-28 Thread linjanecam
Yes, those doggone commercials can make watching TVLand a trial sometimes.
Last week I decided to view two of their much hyped shows, Kirstie and The
Exes. Can one wash one's eyes and ears with soap? From there, I happened
upon a great old show, The Real McCoys, on Cozi TV, and my goodness how
times have changed in what we're offered from Hollywood. Give me TAGS, The
Real McCoys, Gilligan's Island, Leave it to Beaver, and all those grand old
shows where cleverness and wit resided wonderfully well with morality.
