Tonight I was watching Mayberry RFD here locally on MeTV (We do not get TAGS on MeTV). It was the episode where Goober gets lost in the cave (A very similar plot to the time Andy and Helen get trapped in the cave-in). Anyway, also appearing on the show besides all the regulars were Uncle Ollie as the County Sheriff and Old Jud as a country living hermit. There are so many similar plots on MRFD as on TAGS. It may be a little bit of a stretch, but let's remember Gary Marshall. He was a mentor of Ron Howard.
